Future Africa is the University of Pretoria’s collaborative platform for research that works across the sciences and with society to address Africa’s biggest and most urgent contemporary challenges. Our fundamental purpose is to develop and unleash the transformative potential of African sciences to inform and inspire a future of thriving African societies.

Future Africa science sharing series explores migrant youth experiences through participatory research
Future Africa, in partnership with the IRD–CNRS–CIRAD Joint Office, hosted a Science-Sharing Series seminar examining the experiences of migrant and refugee youth in South Africa. Researchers from the Growing Up Across Borders (GRABS) project shared findings on how legal uncertainty, administrative barriers and social exclusion shape young migrants’ lives, highlighting the role of participatory research methods in amplifying youth voices.
