Dr Abdelrahman started investigating soil organic matter (SOM) & its response to land management in 2009 & since then he works on understanding/exploring the nature of different forms of SOM & their response to management practices. Understand the nature & composition of the different SOM forms will help evaluating agricultural management practices and may result in C retention in soil & consequent reduction of CO₂ emissions. Hamada extends his knowledge in soil science, organic farming and related areas to circles of students, colleagues, alumni network and farmers. He has been offering support and assistance to postgraduate student and junior staff at Cairo University (Agriculture) for proposal writing, and different application preparations. Hamada founded the Egyptian chapter of the International Humic Substances Society (IHSS) hoping for possible collaboration among Egyptian and Int. colleagues. Hamada believes that the best impact a scientist may make is being a real help or a motivation for a successful student.
