The seminar will explore the political dimensions of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across local, national, and global levels. Additionally, it will examine how power dynamics and governance influence the implementation and outcomes of the SDGs and how global development goals in turn shape institutions, economies, and society.
Speaker
Professor Dan Banik is the director of the Oslo SDG Initiative at the Centre for Development and the Environment, and a professor of political science at the University of Oslo. He is also an Affiliate Professor at the Centre for Sustainable Healthcare Education (SHE), Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo, Extraordinary Professor at the University of Pretoria, and co-lead of the Africa-Europe Cluster of Research Excellence (CORE) in the Politics of Sustainable Development. He also hosts the
influential global podcast — In Pursuit of Development. This podcast explores various aspects of global development, offering insights and discussions on key global issues
