Future Africa participates in the UP Biosciences forum

The Faculty of Natural and Agricultural Sciences at UP recently held a series of workshops to reflect on the research connections between departments. A further objective of the workshop was to co-design the future research landscape within the faculty.

These objectives are well aligned with Future Africa objectives to provide linkages within and beyond faculties and beyond the University with researchers and organizations. Many of the presented projects were indeed aligned with the objectives of Future Africa. Dr Nokuthula Vilakazi presented a description of the vision and mission of Future Africa to highlight these linkages. Dr Vilakazi talked about the current programmes being developed under Future Africa and invited participants to view the campus through a video.

A number of the research leaders at the forum have already connected to Future Africa. One way of doing this is through the website link with individual profiles, or as centers, projects and institutes. Prof Stephanie Burton also participated in the workshop and emphasized that UP will prioritize the development of Future Africa in 2019.

Other participants included ASLP and TYRLP fellows; Dr Vinet Coetzee, Dr Steven Hussey, Dr Juan Vorster, Dr Eshchar Mizrachi, Dr Tjaart Kruger and Dr Michael Chapwanya
